52 Weeks – Week 28

My travels for work continue. This time we headed down to Williamsburg, VA. It was a decent drive, but the payoff was stopping at Pierce’s Bar-B-Que. That stuff was good!

Week 28

My coworkers were kind enough to book it back up to MD on Friday afternoon so Andrew and I could see our final show of the year at the Kennedy Center.

Week 28

I’ve been looking forward to seeing this show for a long time. We got there early and as we were leaving the parking garage we ended up running into our realtor, Rhonda. She was sitting much closer to us. This was one time that I was really wishing we had those orchestra seats. Before the show, the actor/musicians were jamming on stage and the audience in the orchestra section could walk on stage and get a real up close view of the performance!

Week 28

After I took that picture, the usher yelled at me for taking pictures in the theater. Since it wasn’t during the actual show, I think it was probably alright. Andrew and I took our traditional pre-show selfie anyways.

Week 28

Saturday we had a belated birthday party for Andrew. We held a beer bracket. Four categories, sixteen beers. Thanks to Betsy for the idea!

Week 28

The winner was Ballast Point Sculpin IPA. Thanks to Ryan for the picture!

Besides beer there was some food. I made Jen R make a salad for me.

Week 28

Jen came down from NJ! When she got here, I was making a pie-cake.

Week 28

We had to leave the party early because it was the DCRG Deja Bruise (end-of-season party). Can you guess what the theme was? Also, apparently I’m a midget.

Week 28

I was in charge of providing desserts. I made Jen M decorate a bajillion cupcakes for me.

Week 28

Here’s the pie-cake iced and ready for evening. Not the most beautiful…but it’s a pie…inside a cake.

Week 28

This was my second time making a pie-cake. It turned out much better this time.

Week 28

Jen was a total trooper hanging out with the derby folks all evening. People really embraced the 80s theme. It was truly impressive.

Week 28

The next morning was my team’s end-of-season party. It was the perfect day to be at the pool…so that’s what we did.

Week 28

Jen got to try picking crabs for the first time. When in Maryland…

Week 28

This was the award I made for my teammate, Menace to Sobriety. You can rotate each row to make different outfits.

Week 28

I took off work on Monday and Jen and I headed into the city. The Building Museum has an interactive exhibit called “The Beach” right now. SO COOL.

Week 28

It was outrageously fun. We were four feet deep in a giant ball pit.

Then, Monday night…the reason Jen was in town…TAYLOR SWIFT!

Week 28

We got the crew back together for another concert.

Week 28

Jen and I saw her together last time she was in DC.

Week 28

Despite some technical difficulties, the show was AMAZING! It ended super-duper late though, and after getting trapped in the parking garage for 40 minutes after the show, I was exhausted.

Week 28

This was one crazy weekend. So many fun things, so little time. Sleep is overrated. (Not true, I was ruined for the rest of the week from not enough sleep. Still, what a fun weekend.)
