Melissa's Shower

 103/365

Today was Melissa’s first wedding shower. It was thrown by her future mother-in-law and future grandmother-in-law and it was delightful. It was at a country club up in northern Jersey and the day couldn’t have been better. It was warm and sunny and just such a lovely day to celebrate with Melissa.

Centerpieces

Look how clever the centerpieces were! At first glance they just look like a flower display, but when you look closer, the flowers are displayed in measuring spoons, colanders, measuring cups, oil and vinegar bottles, and other assorted kitchenwares. They also used pasta and beans, wooden spoons, and adorable cheese graters as accents which I thought was really cool. I thought it was perfect for Melissa as she loves to cook.

Bloody Mary

I also tried my first Bloody Mary. It kind of tastes like you’re drinking cocktail sauce and that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Melissa's Shower

A bunch of Melissa’s family and family friends also made the trip up for the shower. It was really great to see a lot of them since it has been a while and they are the most fun, gracious, wonderful people. I’m glad they got to be there with Melissa. I’m glad I got to be there with Melissa.

Jen and I hopped back in the car after the shower and headed back down to Virginia. Andrew and Evan were hanging out all day so in a fit of oncoming hangriness, we called them and demanded they make us dinner and have it ready when we arrived. Like the obliging fellows that they are, they came through. When we walked in the door, we had this waiting for us:

Bruschetta

And then this was on the table shortly afterwards:

Hamburger

A roasted garlic stuffed hamburger, topped with provolone and a tomato. So good. We narrowly avoided a total hunger meltdown and instead had a lovely evening to end a busy, but fun weekend. I’m pooped now. Can I have another weekend from my weekend?
