So you all saw Ellen’s Oscars tweet? Yeah, ours is just like that.
But first, let’s back a bit.
This morning started early, with the last regular season bout of the year. My team took on Scare Force One for the second time this season, and for the second time this season, came away with a win! It was weird playing a bout in the morning instead of our usual mid-afternoon time, but it was a lot of fun. Our team played really well as a team and it definitely showed.
After the bout, we came home and the Millers came for a visit! We got to show them our new house and spend a couple of hours together just chatting and catching up. Things seem to be settling down a little bit, so hopefully we can hang out with Arthur and Katy more because they are a ton of fun.
The Millers had dinner plans so when they headed out we headed down to Arlington for Jen and Evan’s Oscar party. Everyone was supposed to bring a themed dish related to a movie. There was a Frozen themed cheese plate, some Nebraska meat pies, a half dozen Bradley Coop-cakes, and a whole bunch of other good stuff. We brought hummus. Which was clearly related to the Best Foreign Language Film nominee, Omar. You haven’t heard of it? It’s from Palestine.
The party was a lot of fun just hanging out, watching Ellen be ridiculous on the Oscars, and providing our own commentary. Turns out one of Jen’s friend’s sister is the lady who does the voiceovers during the broadcast. I felt like I was tangentially connected to the Oscars this year! Also, Andrew and I randomly won the Oscars pool at the party, because we picked Gravity to win everything. Such a winning day!
