Jen and Evan’t baseline Sunday Night Dinner is at a higher level than our baseline Sunday Night Dinner. The last few times we’ve been there it’s been brisket tacos and homemade chicken pot pie. We’ve countered with homemade pasta and a fajita lasagna, so I think we need to step it up next week.
Tonight we walked in after seeing The Theory of Everything (I really liked it, Andrew just liked it) and their kitchen was warm and toasty with a giant vat of melted cheese on the stove. I helped Jen finish up the mac and cheese by stirring the said pot of cheese. When she added 6 tablespoons of sriracha, I was a little bit skeptical, but it was the perfect amount. The mac and cheese ended up being just a little spicy, just enough to give it a little kick, without it feeling like your mouth was going to fall off or anything. It was definitely a decadent dish though. I’m not sure exactly how much butter was in it, but I’m guessing it challenges one of my cakes. I think she used this recipe.
