Pie

Perhaps in preparation for the  Thanksgiving holiday, a couple of weeks ago we had a Pie Invitational. Yeah, I realize Thanksgiving was a while ago, but my calendar is still on October, so please cut me a little slack. I’m getting around to it all.

It was a glorious and delicious affair in which all participants were invited to make a pie, bring a pie, and partake in the many other pies there. It was awesome.

We had savory pies and we had sweet pies and things were delicious. Without further ado…

Shepherd’s Pie. Seems like something I would find gross given my Food Rules, but I actually really like it and it’s really good (because all of those things are supposed to touch each other). Melissa Melissa and Brad made this goody.

I made a zucchini pie. I thought it could use a little more seasoning, but overall it wasn’t too bad and pretty tasty. I was actually impressed with savory pie selection.

Jen and Evan made a pecan pie. It was such a pretty pie.

In addition to the pecan pie, Rob made a magazine-perfect looking pumpkin pie. I also made a Crack Pie which is basically butter and sugar and egg goodness/death in a pie. Someday, when my arteries have cleared a bit, I’m going to try to improve that pie, because it was tasty.

The next day, I may have eaten a slice of S’mores Pie for lunch. S’mores pie has a graham cracker crust, a brownie center, and is topped with toasted marshmallows. Andrew whipped this puppy up and with a little ice cream – lunch of champions.

SO MUCH PIE.
