The Cakes…Revealed!

In Cakes, Fun Cakes, Video by Simmie4 Comments

Ha, it just took me three tries to write the word “revealed”. No promises on the quality of the spelling in this post.

Now, where were we? Oh yes, cake. I mean CAKE. I mean CAKE!!!!!!!!!!!

Whatcha Lookin' At?

Last weekend was a cake extravaganza for me. Somehow I wound up with three cakes. Ok, not somehow, I got asked to make three cakes and I said yes. Sometimes this is a good idea. Sometimes this is a bad idea. Like the time I tried to make a 1000 decorated sugar cookies in a day and half by myself. Have I told you about this? That’s a story for another time.

But these three cakes weren’t too bad. There was one long night but for the most part it wasn’t too bad.

Now let’s talk about these first two cakes. The first two cakes were for a joint birthday party for two awesome little boys. The first cake was for Kathryn’s son. I made him some pumpkin cupcakes a couple of years ago. This is mostly terrifying to me because it was a COUPLE of years ago. Which means he’s now four. FOUR. I remember when he was born. This is starting to make me feel old…

The second cake was for his friend. I’ve actually made him a birthday cake before as well. Quinn used to be a big fan of boxing. Not sure if he still is, but when he was two he was all about the jabs and punches.

Well this year, the boys were into Disney. I mean, who wouldn’t be? Disney is awesome. So, without further ado…

That big ole eye? It’s a lion!

Lion Cake

It was maybe supposed to be Simba, but he had sort of knob head looking thing going on so I had to add a mane. Grown up Simba maybe? Whoever he is, he’s sort of a gentle lion. Probably one who would be found singing whimsical lyrics with a warthog and a meerkat. Holy cow people! Did you know that Timon and Pumbaa had last names?! Apparently their names are Timon Berkowitz and Pumbaa Smith! This just blew my mind.

The second cake…Lightning McQueen!

Have you guys seen Cars? It’s a great movie. I think my favorite part is when they go tractor tipping. Hehe. Cars was the first movie I bought on iTunes way back in the day. Then it mysteriously disappeared from my computer. This Lightning McQueen is special though. See that little sign in the bottom right hand corner? Yeah, it’s not ordinary sign…

I thought that was a nice little touch, no? It’s always a bit of a surprise, because I don’t think people often expect their cakes to make sound or light up. I got to deliver the cakes the day before the party, and my are those children a charming bunch. It was a delightful delivery and hopefully a delightful party! Happy birthday fellas!

  2. We already decided that this was “teenage” Simba. Like, before he got his head on straight and went home to save everyone from Scar. It was, pretty much, the awesomest cake ever. 🙂

  3. um these cakes are AWESOME! like giant awesomeness.

hope you are doing well Simmie!
