Baby Cookies

(113/366)

This weekend I was supposed to pack up some stuff to take with me to Florida for the next four months. Yup, I’m heading south for the next, hot, sticky four months. Have you ever packed for a super-extended trip? I hadn’t, and I have no idea how to go about doing that. So I didn’t. Instead I:

  • Stayed up really really late watching Downton Abbey and YouTube videos
  • Played a lot of Chain Factor
  • Looked through some magazines
  • Went up to Columbia to hang with The Abels
  • Made some thank you cards
  • Painted some clothespins
  • Baked four cakes
  • Watched more Downton Abbey
  • Made those baby cookies in the picture

Only after I had done all of that, did I start packing. And by packing I mean, throwing as many clothes as I can into the middle of the floor and then squishing them as best as possible into a suitcase. It actually wasn’t so bad. Of course, in a week or so we’ll see just how much stuff I forgot.

I haven’t made iced sugar cookies in a heck of a long time. I really like the creative aspect of making cookies like this, except that I always forget how much of a mess it creates. I go through five or six bowls in order to get all of the colors and am up to my elbows in piping bags. Cookies are fun to make even though there are usually so gosh darn many of them. However, I must be made for tedious exercises because instead of getting frustrated after piping the same design for the eleventh or twelfth time, I’m usually just lulled into a sense of calm. If it’s possible to achieve cookie zen, that’s when it happens for me.

  1. Very efficiently written post. It will be supportive to everyone who utilizes it, including yours truly :). Keep up the good work – for sure i will check out more posts.

  2. Hang on. From what I remember, you are an excellent packer. You fit all the food in the fridge for a Medoway Christmas!
