Chinese Food Extravaganza!

(329/366)

Because we didn’t eat enough yesterday, tonight we had a Chinese food extravaganza. There’s a local Chinese place that I LOVE. It’s like my gold standard for Chinese food and I’ve ever found anything that lives up to it. Last time I was home though, I was heartbroken to discover that it had burned down. There was some serious mourning. However, I recently discovered they had rebuilt the place! Jen and I have had extensive conversations about the local Chinese food in the last couple of weeks. She claimed that another restaurant (across the street from my beloved Lucky Corner) had better food. Alright. The challenge was on.

So tonight, we ordered a whole bunch of food from both places and did some comparisons. Honestly, I have no idea which was one was better. I scarfed down as much as I could, enjoying every delicious bite. Lucky Corner was just as I remembered it and the new place (Li’s) was good too. I’d say we’d all have to agree considering we only had a small quantity of leftovers.

In other news, Andrew and I stayed up late on Thanksgiving night to go Black Friday shopping. At this point, I think we go basically for the experience and not for the deals. Which is evident by the fact that the first place we went to was Sports Authority so I could buy a sweatshirt. We ended up getting free giftcards for being…anyone willing to stand in line to wait for Sports Authority to open up at midnight. Andrew got a brand new regulation football for $2.49! (And I got my sweatshirt.) After that we did some more clothes shopping before venturing to Walmart…which was not busy at all. Apparently our reverse order of shopping really worked for us. I got a new cake caddy as well to help tame the monster that has become my cake decorating supplies. (Really! I swear, I still do that sometimes!)

Going to bed at 4 AM does not agree with me though. I’m officially too old for these things. Good thing the rest of the day was spent sitting around and eating Chinese food, because I’m not sure I was ever fully awake today…
