For the past few weeks, Andrew has been casually mentioning that he wants to make gingerbread. Andrew casually mentioning that he wants some kind of baked good isn’t that weird, but he rarely takes it upon himself to actually make those baked goods. While I really enjoy the precision of baking, Andrew is much more free-form in the kitchen. So when he mentioned wanting to make gingerbread again yesterday, I offered to make it for him which he gladly accepted.
This cake came together pretty quickly and filled our house with a wonderful aroma. The flavors are bold without being overpowering and served with a dusting of powered sugar, a perfect holiday cake. It was moist and springy and when presented to Andrew, he replied with a big smile. Craving satisfied.[yumprint-recipe id=’34’]
