Crab Cake

Spring is here. It sort of snuck up on us. It went straight from winter to summer here in Maryland, until recently when Mother Nature oriented herself correctly and now we have spring. Which means rain. Isn’t it April showers? Well, it’s been raining for the entirety of May. And I’m tired of it.

But besides rain, spring brings with it something better, much better. Baseball! Now, I know there are those of you out there who will disagree with me. Who think nine innings of baseball is eight innings too many. Well, you just have to give it a chance. Sit in the seats at Fenway Park on Easter where people hold signs saying “Even the Easter Bunny hates the Yankees”, or relax with some friends in the bleachers at Wrigley Field on a sunny, Sunday afternoon, or mention how you’ve never been on the Jumbo-tron at a Phillies game, just to look up and see your face on the screen, or sit in the upper decks at Camden Yards eating pit beef and heckling the Orioles fans (Can you guess which one of those I haven’t done?). And sometimes, you’ll even see some exciting baseball. The Red Sox scored 12 runs in the 6th inning today. I bet that was fun to watch (unless you’re a Cleveland fan).

Which brings me to this cake. Can you guess where these people are from? This is a cake for a rehearsal dinner that’s being held at Camden Yards. During a Orioles-Yankees game. That’s right. Camden Yards. HOW COOL IS THAT?

So, this crab cake is at its Maryland’s finest. The bride is from Baltimore, the groom is from New York. I wonder how they feel about Teixeira?

Check back tomorrow and I’ll show you how I made this cake.
