SND – Hamburgers

In Sunday Dinner by SimmieLeave a Comment

Hamburgers

Summer has not officially started here in Maryland, but it sure feels like it. After raining for a month, the hot weather is rolling in, which means it’s the perfect time to start cooking outdoors (although, rain and snow have never stopped Andrew from grilling before). For dinner this week we went for the classic hamburgers and fries combo, with some early season sweet corn added in.

Dinner came together pretty well, after some pre-dinner entertainment from Owen and a demonstration of his strawberry and plum eating skills (or lack thereof). It’s endlessly entertaining.

Speaking of strawberries, Andrew and I got up early Sunday morning to go strawberry picking. We got to the patch 10 minutes after they opened and it was already filling up. Conveniently at the farm we went to, they assign each group of people their own row so no one has to fight over strawberries.

Strawberry picking

After about 45-minutes, Andrew and I had a pretty good haul and the sore knees from crouching down to prove it. We walked away with just about 8.5 lbs of fresh, sweet, juicy strawberries. Seriously, our car smelled so good the whole way home.

Strawberry Shortcake

Naturally that meant we had strawberry shortcake for dessert. I’m still working my way through the other 8 lbs of strawberries. I think ice cream is in our future…
